pretty pretty pumpkin

This is the Halloween pumpkin I decorated this year. It took several hours of me inhaling sharpie fumes to get this done, but I'm very happy with it :-)

I love the smell of North Carolina in the Fall

Just a few photos from one of my favorite places -- Montreat, NC.

spoon!

I was browsing around Pier 1 last night when I came across something wonderful. A giant spoon. If you are familiar with the "My Spoon Is Too Big" video then you will certainly be amused. Sorry for the poor quality of the photo, the camera on my phone isn't very good.

nerdiness

I found these t-shirts on Etsy yesterday, and they were perfect for David and me so I couldn't resist getting them. He's a bike fanatic so the Schwinn is for him, and of course the microscope is for me, the bio nerd. I can't wait to get them :-)

oOoOo

This is dedicated to Anne, who is far away from me in Colombia. It's tea. And it's in the shape of origami birds. !!!!! Anne, I'm going to try to find these so we can have origami tea together. Maybe we can have an origami tea party.

oh snap!

Is this not one of the most wonderful cakes you've ever seen? Did anybody else freak out when they laid eyes on this baby like I did?

I must have it.

i love coffee, i love tea...

...and hot chocolate. Lately when I've run out of coffee or I feel like I've been drinking it too much I'll have hot chocolate instead. It kind of has a placebo effect for me, making me think that I'm getting as much caffeine as I do in coffee. It's also delicious. And it's even better in this awesome mug I got from Pier 1.

That yellow spoon fits in a slot in the handle of the mug, so you're ready for stirring. I love it. I also got these other beautiful mugs there (on sale!).

If I were to ever win lots of money, I would probably spend way too much of it in Pier 1.

No regrets

Today David and I had a completely lazy Sunday. Well, up until about 30 minutes ago. But we slept in until noon, ate breakfast/lunch, watched a movie, sat and stared out the window, and played a board game. Normally I would have been thinking about all the other productive things I could be doing, or even just that I could be doing laundry while doing all those things. But I didn't. And it was amazing! I think this was the first time in a while that David and I could truely just be together and enjoy each other's company without distractions. I highly recommend the laziness. :-)

Test tube plants

In my senior project lab at Georgia Tech we got to clone plants and grow new little ones in test tubes (I know awesome, right?). This is one of the four test tube plants I had. This is a syngonium plant and then I also had African violets. They were adorable and they started to fill up the tubes over the months. The time came around June when most of the nutrients in the media they were growing in were getting used up and I needed to transplant them into paper cups. Well of course I was lazy and never transplanted them, so they turned brown and I'm pretty sure they're dead now. Point is... for a while I had really cool test tube plants.

...and then I found $5?

Why just wish upon stars when there are so many other wonderful sparkley things?

Welcome to wish upon a sparkle! My name is Jennifer and hopefully I'll be able to dig up my HTML knowledge from years ago to make this blog look a little prettier. I might write stuff or I might just post pictures. My main purpose here isn't clear to me yet, but this morning I felt inspired to try to blogging thing again. So bear with me please.

Yay!
